Family History

Margaret Clark, the initial subject of this memorial, was the daughter of Robert Clark and Mary McFarlane of Eaglesham. She married James Mitchell of Blackhouse Farm, Eaglesham in 1857.

Blackhouse Farm in the parish of Eaglesham should not be confused with the farm of the same name found in the western extremities of Mearns Parish. Blackhouse Farm, Eaglesham, was to be found in the vicinity of Bonnyton and Bogton Farms.

Both these people were buried in this plot in due course of time, having both lived to greatly advanced years. The plot is adjacent to that of the earlier generation of the Mitchell family (Monument Q06).

This couple had several children amongst whom was son Robert. His daughter Margaret Clark Mitchell died as an infant of three months having been given the full name of her paternal grandmother. Baby Mitchell was to suffer from whooping cough, causing a bronchial obstruction which killed her.
She was laid to rest alongside her grandparents in this lair.
