Family History

Owing to the passage of time and minimal information displayed on this headstone little has been discovered about the lives of the interred.

The surname Tod or Todd was not uncommon in Mearns Parish with several families carrying this name. William Tod, farming at Robshill, would have found himself virtually in the village of Newton, as Robshill Farm was to be discovered at the northern extremity of the main street of that village. Situated as it was, it would find a ready market for its products and crops within the village itself.

Ann Wylie, his spouse, is equally unknown, as are any children contained in this grave.
