Family History

This stone is one of several used for the purpose of paving the pathway surrounding the Mearns Kirk.

The stone of local origin has obviously been covering a grave at some earlier date, but owing to passage of time and lack of use of the appropriate lair, it has been relegated to its present position. The surface of the stone has suffered weather and foot erosion so completely that no trace whatsoever can be identified of any previous inscription.
